A report on Wednesday indicated that the Rockies were attempting to sign a deal with Olivo to be the primary backup. In December Iannetta signed a three-year extension with the team worth $8.3 million. Olivo hit .249 with 23 home runs and 65 RBIs in 2009 with the Kansas City Royals. He also has played parts of three seasons with the Padres and Marlins.
The Rockies' decision to add Olivo means the end of Yorvit Torrealba's run in Colorado. Torrealba was seeking a two-year deal worth $6 million to return to Colorado Rockies. Last month Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd told the paper that he was not optimistic about being reached to retain Torrealba. Hope Olivo can put on the rockies jersey successfully.

Padres CEO has nothing to say about Gonzalez
Moorad, in an interview on the Padres' flagship radio station said that he doesn't believe general manager Jed Hoyer has spoken with Boston Red Sox general manager Theo Epstein since the Winter Meetings concluded in Indianapolis last week. He also didn't think Hoyer and Epstein discussed Gonzalez.
Gonzalez has been the subject of trade speculation since the end of the regular season. Hoyer was an assistant general manager to Epstein in Boston before joining the Padres in October in trade discussions for the two-time All-Star and two-time Gold Glove Award winner. Moorad said "If it's something that would dramatically improve our ballclub, we'd be silly not to listen. Does that mean other teams don't ask about him? Of course not. We're going to listen." "Jed has money to spend, not a lot, but money to spend," Moorad said. Well can Gonzalez put on the padres jersey successfully?

Reds sign Burke to Minor League deal
Although the Reds may not have made any major moves during the Winter Meetings in Indianapolis, they did sign Chris Burke to a Minor League deal, general manager Walt Jocketty said last week. Burke, who is a former first-round pick by the Astros in the 2001 First-Year Player Draft, played in 32 games for the Padres in 2009 and also played in the Mariners' and Braves' Triple-A affiliates. In 83 Minor League games, the right-handed hitter .279 with four homers and 15 stolen bases.
In six seasons in the Majors, he has also played center field, shortstop, right field, first base and third base in his mlb jersey. "I think we see him as a potential candidate for the utility role on the Major League club, and if nothing else, he'll play at Triple-A Louisville," Jocketty said. "He's from Louisville, it's his hometown, and he's very excited about the possibility to play for either club. He's an experienced guy that might be able to help us."

Gonzalez leaves the game with hamstring
After sparking a four-run go-ahead rally, left fielder Carlos Gonzalez left Tuesday's series opener against the Padres due to his left hamstring. Gonzalez opened the first inning with a triple into the right-center alley, and returned to the field in the top of the second, fielding one ball from center fielder Tony Gwynn Jr.
Gonzalez entered the game hitting .277 with 12 home runs and 16 steals. The temperature at that time was 48 degrees, and rain began falling in the second inning, which possibly leads to Gonzalez's hamstring.
