On January 31 during the game between Los Angeles Kings and Montreal Canadiens, the defenseman Denis Gauthier of Los Angeles Kings did something disgraced to a member of another team.As a result, the National Hockey League told the media that he was not allowed playing again in the next game and suspended for 5 games. He had to hand in a large amout of money which went to the player's Emergency Assistance Fund.
During that game at 4 pm of the second period, Gauthier gave a violent blow to Canadien's defenseman Josh Gorges. Thus Gauthier missed games against Ottawa,Washington,New Jersey,New York Islanders and Calgary.Eventually, he returned on Feb.14 against Edmonton.
