Marc Savard leaves game with injury

Boston Bruins center Marc Savard left Thursday night's game against Chicago Blackhawks after just 28 seconds because of an injured right leg, and it is said that he will not return. Savard went into the side boards in the Blackhawks' zone along with Chicago center Jonathan Toews. He went down to the ice awkwardly after the innocent collision and stayed there until the team's medical staff attended to him.

Savard was helped off the ice by teammates and team's trainers. The team said he won't return to the game in his boston bruins jersey and offered no other details.

Chicago Blackhawks recalled Skille from AHL

The Chicago Blackhawks have suspended center Andrew Ebbett from the Anaheim Ducks and have recalled right wing Jack Skille (in blackhawks jersey) from the AHL’s Rockford IceHogs. Ebbett has been held scoreless in two regular-season games with Ducks after recording one assist and two penalty minutes in five preseason contests. He split the 2008-09 season between Ducks and the AHL’s Iowa Chops, getting 32 points in 48 regular-season NHL games and adding a goal and two assists in 13 Stanley Cup Playoff contests.

Ebbett ranked sixth in the AHL and 11th with 72 points in 74 games with the Portland Pirates in 2007-08. He helped the Pirates advance to the Eastern Conference Final in the Calder Cup Playoffs, posting 17 points in 16 postseasons. Ebbett made his NHL debut at the end of the 2007-08 season, recording two penalty minutes in three regular-season games with Ducks. Signed as a free agent by the Ottawa Senators after a four-year career at the University of Michigan, Ebbett made his professional debut with the AHL’s Binghamton Senators in 2006-07, leading the Senators with 39 assists and ranking second with 65 points in 71 regular-season games.

Blackhawks trade Aaron Johnson to Flames

The Chicago Blackhawks sent defenseman Aaron Johnson to Flames on Wednesday in exchange for left wing Kyle Greentree. Greentree appeared in two games with the Flames last season but spent most of 2008-09 season with the Flames. He has 65 goals and 61 assists for 126 points and 148 penalty minutes in 159 AHL regular-season games with the Philadelphia Phantoms and Quad City. Greentree had 41 goals and 101 points in three seasons with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Johnson had 3 goals and 5 assists in 38 games with the Hawks last season, as a member of the organization after signing as a free agent on July 15, 2008. He has played in 184 NHL games with Blue Jackets, New York Islanders and Chicago, scoring 10 goals and adding 26 assists for 36 points with 156 PIM.
