Blue Jackets sent Filatov to KHL

General Manager Scott Howson of the Columbus Blue Jackets announced on November 17.that the tema have sent forward Nikita Filatov to CSKA of the Kontinental Hockey League for the rest of the 2009-10 season. Filatov has appeared in 13 games with the Blue Jackets this season, scoring two goals and adding eight penalty minutes. He has got eight penalty minutes in 21 NHL games over the past two seasons.

"Nikita is a top prospect in our organization and we believe it is in the best interest of his development to play more and in all situations in the KHL," said Howson. "We have agreed to his request to be assigned to CSKA and this should afford him the opportunity to continue to work and develop his game in his hometown of Moscow." Fans will not see him playing in columbus blue jackets jersey for a while.

Blackhawks trade Aaron Johnson to Flames

The Chicago Blackhawks sent defenseman Aaron Johnson to Flames on Wednesday in exchange for left wing Kyle Greentree. Greentree appeared in two games with the Flames last season but spent most of 2008-09 season with the Flames. He has 65 goals and 61 assists for 126 points and 148 penalty minutes in 159 AHL regular-season games with the Philadelphia Phantoms and Quad City. Greentree had 41 goals and 101 points in three seasons with the University of Alaska-Fairbanks.

Johnson had 3 goals and 5 assists in 38 games with the Hawks last season, as a member of the organization after signing as a free agent on July 15, 2008. He has played in 184 NHL games with Blue Jackets, New York Islanders and Chicago, scoring 10 goals and adding 26 assists for 36 points with 156 PIM.

Rick Nash's 8 year deal with Blue Jackets

The team captain of Blue Jackets Rick Nash agreed to an eight-year contract extension with the club. Nash has recorded 40 goals and 79 points in 78 regular-season games and ranked seventh in the Western Conference. Columbus General Manager Scott Howson said that it is an important and exciting day for their franchise and fans.

Nash ranked first in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft and after that began his career with the Blue Jackets. In his second season he shared the Rocket Richard Trophy with Jarome Iginla of Flames and Ilya Kovalchuk of Atlanta.Totally Nash has 194 goals and 355 points in 441 games over six seasons with Columbus Blue Jackets.
